COMMUNITY CENTER

The Eastpointe Community Center, located at 16435 Eight Mile Road, Eastpointe, Michigan 48021, approximately halfway between Gratiot Avenue and Kelly Road on the north side of Eight Mile Road, houses the administrative offices for the Parks and Recreation Department. This facility also has a high school size gymnasium with bleacher seating for 225, the Astronaut Jerry Linenger Auditorium seating 250 with display and exhibit items from Eastpointe's very own space shuttle astronaut, and rental/activity rooms for department programs and events.

The facility houses offices of the City's "Communities That Care Program" .

FACILITY RENTAL

Community Center and Senior Citizen Center rooms are available for rent to Eastpointe residents or business owners for private functions (e.g., birthday parties, wedding/shower receptions, reunions, training sessions, basketball games, etc). It should be noted that all of the facilities are to remain tobacco and alcohol free at all times.

Eastpointe Organizations $15/hr 
Private Parties $30/hr 
Fund Raising Activities $50/hr 
Large Activity/Meeting Rooms:
Eastpointe Organizations $20/hr - 3 hr min.
Private Parties $60/hr - 3 hr min.
Fund Raising Activities $75/hr - 3 hr min.
Community Center Auditorium:
Eastpointe Organizations $25/hr - 3 hr min.
Private Parties $40/hr - 3 hr min.
Fund Raising $50/hr - 3 hr min.
Community Center Gymnasium:
Non-Prime time hours:
7 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday - Friday $20/hr
Prime time hours:
5 p.m. - 11 p.m. Monday - Friday &
All day Saturday and Sunday
$30/hr

Gymnasium use for other than athletic activity, such as a private party or fund raising activity will be at the discretion of the department based upon size, time, and type of activity. In addition to these costs, it should be noted that hourly custodial-type charges may be incurred based upon unusual circumstances and/or demands of staff.

Reserving an Athletic Field

To assure the best possible service to your athletic organization and to the individual teams, the Department of parks and Recreation is now accepting requests for athletic field use permits exclusively by E-mail at fieldscheduling@eastpointecity.org.

When requesting an athletic field or facility, please include the following information;

ü      Name of Organization

ü      Name of Representative

ü      Phone number for Organization Representative

ü      Mailing Address of Organization/Representative

ü      Representative’s email Address

ü      Field or Facility Being Requested

ü      Field Dimensions Needed (i.e. Base Lines/Pitching Rubber, Overall Soccer Field Size)

ü      Dates

ü      Start and End Times

ü      Practice or Game

ü      Any Special Requests

You will be notified by E-mail when you may pay any fees and pick up your permit at the Eastpointe Community Center, 16435 Eight Mile Road.

Please Note: Due to budget restraints, we are unable to drag and line baseball fields on weekends. Fields scheduled for Saturday or Sunday will be prepared on Friday afternoon with no guarantee of condition at game time. Organizations wanting game day service to their field may pay the appropriate fees for this service. Email at the above address for the cost of this service.

PARKS

Picnic in the Parks

The City of Eastpointe has green shady parks available to picnickers from individual families to large groups. Picnic permits for a shelter are available, and may be obtained from the Community Center office (16435 Eight Mile Road) during business hours. Individual picnic sites are available on a first come, first serve basis.

Kennedy Park

The park features horseshoe pits, playground equipment, an outdoor swimming pool with a water slide, lighted baseball field, roller hockey facility, youth soccer field, sand volleyball and picnic pavilions.

Spindler Park

There are 6 horseshoe pits, 4 lighted tennis courts, playground equipment and picnic pavilions available for park users. One-hour tennis permits for residents may be obtained after 4:00 p.m. on weekdays and any time on weekends.

Memorial Park

The new park pavilion is located along Flower Street south of 10 Mile Road. Ball fields, a basketball court, sand volleyball and horseshoe pits are immediately adjacent to the pavilion. Playground equipment is located within easy walking distance.

SENIOR CITIZEN CENTER

The Eastpointe Senior Center is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The center is located at 16600 Stephens Drive, Eastpointe, Michigan 48021, just 2 blocks east of Gratiot Avenue. Eastpointe residents aged 55 or older are welcome to participate in the activities held at the center. A wide variety of programs and services are available. Detailed information on these programs is listed in the Senior Activities Newsletter, which is printed at the beginning of each month.. For further information please contact the Senior Citizen Program Supervisor at 445-5084.

CHAPATON BOAT RAMP

Eastpointe resident boating enthusiasts may ramp their boats at the Chapaton Boat Ramp at the foot of Nine Mile Road on Lake St. Clair. Season stickers can be purchased at the Eastpointe Community Center during business hours. The purchaser must provide a current boat registration and a valid driver's license. All vehicle registrations must be in the purchaser's name. Season stickers cannot be purchased for relatives or friends.

Residents who do not wish to purchase a season pass may pay a daily launching fee at the Boat Ramp.
