ONLINE DATABASES

Access to the following databases are provided by the Eastpointe Memorial Library.  A username and password is required for access from your home computer.  Call the Library and ask for the reference librarian at 445-5096 for further information.

Facts.com contains the complete text of the Facts on File World News Digest 1980 to present.  Call the Library for username and password.

Gale Ready Reference includes access to thirteen of the Gale Group's most popular reference directories, including Encyclopedia of Associations, Encyclopedia of American Religions, and Gale Directory of Publications and Broadcast Media.  Call the Library for username and password.

Galenet Databases include access to Biography Resource Center, Literature Resource Center, Opposing Viewpoints and the Student Resource Center. Call the Library for password.

STATEWIDE DATABASES

These databases are provided through the statewide database project of the Library of Michigan, an organization in the Department of History, Arts and Libraries.

Electric Library Elementary offers reference information specially selected for K-6 school students.  It includes complete full text content from the world's most respected publishers of magazines, books, newspapers, TV transcripts, maps and pictures.  Contact the Library for username and password.

 

FirstSearch includes sixty reference databases and provides rapid desktop access to a rich electronic collection of bibliographic, abstract, and full-text information from books, magazines, and newspapers.  Includes full-text of one million magazine and newspaper articles, citations to books, and abstracts of articles from more than 15,000 journals and newspapers.  Contact the Library for username and password.

These Infotrac databases include access to Ancestry Plus, General Reference Center Gold, Health and Wellness Resource Center, Health Reference Center Academic, Kids Edition, and 120 custom newspapers, including the Detroit News, the Grand Rapids Press, and the New York Times.  Contact the Library for password information.

Learn-a-Test  is the leading source of test preparation materials and interactive practice exams, based on official tests.  Its purpose is to help individuals improve scores on academic, civil service, military, and professional licensing and certification exams.  Contact the Library for log on information.

NetLibrary.  This MEL Ebooks collection includes over 10,000 full-text books from netLibrary.  Includes books on a wide range of topics of interest to a broad audience.  Contact the Library for log on information.

SIRS Discover Deluxe is a full-text database for grades K-9.  It covers articles selected from 1,000 magazines along with the full-text version of Funk and Wagnalls New Encyclopedia.  Contact the Library for username and password.
