The Eastpointe Fire & Rescue Department responds to all reported fires, medical emergencies, rescue situations, and hazardous material incidents. The fire department members are highly trained fire fighters and paramedics. They take great pride in their ability to mitigate any emergency in a professional and efficient manner. In addition to emergency response, the fire department also conducts fire investigations, fire inspections, and public fire prevention programs.
The fire department was first established in 1921 to provide basic fire protection to the City and its residents. Since that time the department has evolved in to a full service organization. The department now offers specialized services such as Advanced life Support, Hazardous Materials Technicians, and Trench/Technical Rescue Specialists.
The Emergency Medical Services transport model was eliminated three years ago. The Fire Department now responds to all medical emergencies using non-transport, advanced life supportengines. Medical transport is conducted by a private ambulance company.
The Eastpointe Fire Department's operational components are comprised of fire suppression, emergency medical services, and fire prevention/investigations. Larry Folkerts is the Deputy Fire Chief.
