Genealogical Research

The City of Eastpointe welcomes you to its genealogical research page!  We hope that you find the resources provided here to be helpful in your quest for information and insight into your family roots.  City staff will periodically update this web page as additional information and resources become available that will assist individuals searching for family roots in the Eastpointe (formerly City of East Detroit, Village of Halfway, part of Erin Township, and part of Orange Township), so please visit this page often!

State of Michigan birth and death records go back to 1867.  Marriage records date back as far as 1819.  If you or your ancestor was born or died within the corporate limits of the City of Eastpointe (formerly East Detroit, Village of Halfway, Erin Township, or Orange Township), you may wish to start your genealogy search by contacting the Office of the City Clerk at (586) 445-5026 to find out if the city may have a birth or death record on file.  Birth records can only be requested by the individual to which the record pertains unless the birth occurred more than 100 years prior, but any person can request a copy of a death record.  A fee will be charged for a copy of a record.

In addition to city records, genealogical researchers may wish to visit the following web links for additional sources of genealogical information:
